Originally hailing from Winnipeg, with a long detour in Waterloo, I finally found my way to Vancouver! What brought me out here? My intuition & signs from above. Sometimes life doesn’t give you what you want; instead, it gives you what you need. When I moved, I was in desperate need of a place where my heart, soul & body could finally meet. And here, in the city where Heaven kisses the Earth, I found my home.
I firmly believe in the link between the mind, body & spirit. Every aspect of our selves is intimately linked. If the emotional body is out of alignment due to various & chronic stress, the physical body will eventually breakdown. After more than 6 years of working 6 to 7 days a week & many major life events, losses & changes, I was hospitalized with severe autoimmune disease. Believe me when I say I know how badly the body, mind & spirit can break down when pushed to the limit. And they always crash & burn together. Through all of this, Osteopathy has always been there to support me, whether by receiving treatments myself or providing them to my patients, while at the same time learning lessons of life, joy, sadness, loss & resilience.
Osteopathy is an art. Its aim is to address the individual on the level they are currently living: physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. The physical & emotional demands of stress & everyday life take a toll in more ways than we are sometimes willing to admit. Chronic stress can lead to chronic illness, immune deficiencies, constant low energy levels, headaches…the list is endless! This is because stress literally changes the physiology of the body due to the release of various hormones, including cortisol. Imagine cortisol is gasoline & stress is the match. If you pour enough gasoline on the pile, eventually that match is going to start a bonfire.
Before receiving my osteopathic designation in 2015, I received my massage therapy diploma in 2009. And prior to this, I graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours degree in Philosophy with a science minor in 2006. I incorporate all aspects of my education into treatment.
Since becoming an Osteopathic Practitioner, I have furthered my studies by taking courses on the treatment of concussion & physical trauma, as well as courses dealing with the repercussions of emotional trauma on the individual & how emotional patterns are passed through the generations. All of these leave lasting imprints on the physical, mental, emotional & spiritual level of the patient, & it’s important for these experiences to be addressed in order for them to not have a lasting influence on the individual. I have also been trained in channelling & energy healing.
In my free time I enjoy playing Ultimate frisbee, yoga, meditation, hiking, reading, writing, spending time with friends, & staring at the mountains in awe, gratitude, wonder & love, either from my balcony or the beach!
